Abstract:
Stamicarbon introduced granulation technology in 2002. The process, based on the film-spraying nozzle, was well accepted in the marketplace, leading to several references. The main feature of the plant is the ability to produce a final product of excellent quality. The plant is very easy to operate, and the plant availability is high as a result of the long on-stream times.
The long on-stream times are a result of the low dust production in the plant. Due to the film spraying process, the dust production is limited to about 1.5 % of the plant capacity. As the dust production in the plant is low, all equipment is highly reliable and there is no need for the screens, crushers and the granulator to be cleaned regularly.
After a highly successful commercial introduction, Stamicarbon began to look at further improving the granulation process. Goals included:
- Increase capacity to the present world scale capacity.
- Reduce investment costs.
- Reduction of operational costs.
- Emission abatement.
