This paper is for Stamicarbon customers and prospects only
Stamicarbon recently conducted a process DHS study on its standard urea plant design, to be used for new grassroot plants. The DHS included SIL classification using the RISK-GRAPH method - in line with the current ‘world standard’ on safety studies according to the IEC standards.
Folowing this study, we implemented several changes with respect to process safeguarding, the most important of which are covered in this paper. For existing plants it is of course the owner’s responsibility to comply with governing safety standards, and this paper could be helpful in performing this task.
