Rome/Sittard, 1 April 2010 - Maire Tecnimont S.p.A.
announces that its Netherlands based subsidiary Stamicarbon, the
world market leader in licensing urea technology, has reached an
agreement with Kawasaki Plant Systems Ltd of Japan for the
license of a 1925 mtpd urea melt plant to Turkmenhimiya State
Concern, Turkmenistan's state owned petrochemical company located
in Ashgabat. Start up is planned in Q4 2012.
Turkmenistan possesses an abundance of natural resources such as
natural gas and oil and is one of the fastest growing countries
in Central Asia, boasting a GDP growth rate of approximately 10%.
In addition to natural gas and oil, cotton is also one of the
country's major exports. The demand for urea is rising as
fertilizer to grow cotton.
The urea melt plant is going to use Stamicarbon's Urea 2000plus™
Technology with pool condenser concept.
The new plant will be located in Mary City as part of a
fertilizer complex in the east of Turkmenistan. It will be the
second Stamicarbon urea plant in Turkmenistan, the first one, a
1050 mtpd urea plant with pool reactor technology, is already
successful in operation in Tejen since 2005.
