December 4, 2009

On November 25th 2009, after a very smooth pre-commissioning of less than a week, the new urea granulation plant of PJSC Novomoskovsk Joint Stock Company AZOT in the Tula Region in Russia went easily in operation and produced the first granules.

Already after 5 days after this milestone the plant was running above its design capacity of 2000 mtpd. This plant is based on the proprietary Stamicarbon fluid bed urea granulation technology and is engineered by Chemoprojekt. It is the first urea granulation plant in the FSU with this capacity.

After three granulation plants of similar size in Egypt, this is Stamicarbon's fourth and Chemoprojekt's first commercial scale granulation plant in operation. Twelve more granulation plants with capacities ranging from 1200 to 3600 mtpd are under way in various stages of EPC, with the aid of various contractors.

Stamicarbon's granulation plants have proven to excel in low dust formation, low formaldehyde consumption and unbeaten uninterrupted run time / cleaning interval.

PJSC Novomoskovsk is also constructing a second Stamicarbon urea granulation plant with a name plate capacity of 1400 mtpd which will come in operation in 2010.
