Stamicarbon licenses pool reactor plant to Shaanxi Shanhua Chemical Fertilizer of China

June 1, 2009

Today Stamicarbon announces that it has signed a license agreement with Shaanxi Shanhua Chemical Fertilizer Co. Ltd for a 1760 mtpd urea plant. Start up is planned in 2012.

The Shaanxi plant is going to use Stamicarbon's Urea 2000plus™ Technology with pool reactor and SAFUREX® material for the total synthesis.

In the Peoples Republic of China the Stamicarbon Urea 2000plus™ Technology with pool condenser has been implemented so far in seven plants with capacities varying from 1150 to 3520 mtpd. Three of them are already very successful in operation.

This is however a remarkable milestone as this will be the first pool reactor plant in China. This technology is the latest state-of-the-art, reliable and innovative urea technology in the world. There are currently 7 urea plants that use this latest technology and Shaanxi will be the 8th plant using this technology and the first in China. This technology is particularly interesting for plants with capacities between 200 and 2300 mtpd. As China is the largest builder of plants with these capacities, this licensing agreement marks a new start for China to use this state-of-the-art technology in the future.
