Perdaman Chemicals and Fertilizers (Perdaman) has
selected its coal gasification, ammonia and urea melt and
granulation technology providers for the A$3.5 billion Collie
Urea Project in Western Australia. The state-of-the-art
technologies will be sourced from three international
companies.
Stamicarbon will provide the Urea 2000plus™ melt technology with
full Safurex® for the synthesis loop and Stamicarbon fluid bed
granulation technology. The urea plants will have a capacity of
6200 mtpd in two identical lines of 3100 mtpd each. The other
technologies come from Shell for the plant's core coal
gasification and gas treatment technology and Haldor Topsoe A/S
for the ammonia synthesis technology.
The selection of the technology providers was made four weeks
after Perdaman signed a binding Heads of Agreement with Korea's
Samsung Engineering and Indonesia's Inti Karya Persada Tehnik
(IKPT) for the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction)
work on the plant.
Stamicarbon is the global market leader in developing and
licensing of urea technologies and services and will work closely
with the EPC contractors to complete the detailed engineering
design work.
Perdaman's Chairman and Managing Director Vikas Rambal said that
with the signing of the license agreement the key components for
the development of the Collie Urea Project were now in place.
"Our technology providers are all leading specialists in their
fields and will be contributing valuable expertise to this
project in readiness for the scheduled start of operations in
2013," he said.
