First Safurex reactor and Siphon Jet pumps in a TEC urea plant and in Russia for Minudobrenya, Perm

Safurex® is the new material of construction, developed jointly by Sandvik and Stamicarbon for the application in urea plants. Since 1997 several High-Pressure equipment are already built in Safurex®, this is however the first Safurex application for a reactor including Siphon Jet Pumps in a TEC urea plant and it is the first application in Russia.

The contract is signed between Schoeller-Bleckmann Nooter of Austria and JSCo Minudobreniya, Perm. Stamicarbon will prepare the design of the latest generation of the Stamicarbon High Efficiency Trays, the so called Siphon Jet Pumps.

The advantages of Safurex® are numerous and diverse:

- Mechanically the material is stronger than BC.01 or BC.05 material and invulnerable to active corrosion. These qualities contribute to reliability and allow for considerably less quantities of material.

- As Safurex® is stronger the liner wall thickness can be reduced leading to lower costs

- Operational constraints like equipment heating / cooling rates, turndown ratio of the plant and synthesis blocking-in become more relaxed.

- The lifetime of a Safurex® reactor and High Efficiency Trays is considerable longer than for traditional materials.

Safurex® has become standard material and numerous urea producers have come to know about the mechanical and process merits of using Safurex® equipment.

JSCo MINUDOBRENIYA, located in Perm in the Russian Federation, operates a TOYO Engineering Corporation urea plant, which started up in the early 1980ies. The company recently celebrated its 25th anniversary and is committed to a continuous improvement of its performance.
