3rd Granulation plant in Egypt in operation
Helwan Fertilizer Company in Egypt successfully commissioned its granulation plant in April 2007. With a urea capacity of 2000 ton per day, this is the third granulation plant of a kind in Egypt using Stamicarbon granulation technology. The commissioning and performance test run at HFC went very smooth as a result of good cooperation between HFC, Uhde as EPC contractor and Stamicarbon.
Stamicarbon congratulates HFC with this achievement.
Two 2000 mtpd Stamicarbon granulation plants operated by Alexandria Fertilizer Company and Egyptian Fertilizer Company were commissioned earlier in the summer of 2006. Experiences with Stamicarbon granulation plants are that dust formation in the granulator is very low, allowing for minimum formaldehyde usage and leading to a run time between washing stops that is longer than seen in any other granulation plants, altogether securing substantial cost savings.
Two more granulation plants in Egypt are planned for commissioning in 2010, both belonging to Egyptian Agrium Nitrogen Product Company. Altogether, the number of Stamicarbon granulation plants so far has reached 10, 9 of which since as recent as 2002.
Meanwhile, all (8) urea synthesis plants in Egypt use Stamicarbon technology too, testifying the reputation of this technology.
