The main reasons for revamping Non-CO2 stripping plants (also called: heat stripping or ammonia stripping) are increasing the reliability and increasing the capacity of the urea plant. The design capacities could be raised by more than 50% by using the Stamicarbon revamp technologies such as Pool condenser and Double Stripper concept.

The revamp technologies applied are based on the following principles: 

• Milder process parameters of the synthesis section with respect to pressure and temperatures to minimize corrosion.
• Where possible, SAFUREX^® is introduced;
• Increased stripper efficiency with the help of CO₂. This unloads the downstream section considerable and makes it possible to increase the production with minimum modifications;
• Double Stripper Technology. To start the revamp project, Stamicarbon will analyze the plant together with producer to check the equipment conditions and plant performance to choose the best revamp principle.
