Stamicarbon supplies a full range of shaping and finishing technologies: Granulation, prilling and pastilization.
Not only was Stamicarbon responsible for licensing the world's highest capacity prilling tower but we have also worked with our partner Sandvik to provide a high-speed Rotoformer for production of superior urea pastilles at lowest total cost of ownership.
Urea pastillation
Stamicarbon continuously endeavors to improve the urea process and has introduced the Rotoformer® pastillation process designed by Sandvik Process Systems as a very useful alternative or addition to the traditional finishing techniques of prilling and granulation. Applications for the pastillation process are found in the production of special urea compositions or for small revamp capacities. The pastillation process has been successfully employed in the petrochemical, chemical, food and fertilizer industries since the early 1980s and there are currently more than 1500 pastillation units in operation worldwide.

The prilling process operates as follows: The urea solution is concentrated to 99.7% urea in two subsequent evaporators under vacuum.
