Stamicarbon applies the "triple-P" approach to doing business: Solutions that benefit people, planet and profit. We develop and implement Best Available Technologies for urea production based on the doctrine of getting it "right the first time". This is supported by 60 years' expertise in designing urea plants with the capacity to integrate conventional and new production processes and thus produce enhanced-efficiency urea at low cost and with consistent quality and driven by of course sustainability.

For example, increasing nitrogen uptake efficiency is one of the main ways in which fertilizer use can be made more sustainable. Among the areas on which Stamicarbon is focusing are:
 

  • Zero ammonia and dust emissions, including in relation to alternative formulations of urea-based fertilizer;

  • Minimization of carbon emissions , e.g. through using feedstock from renewable sources in urea plants;

  • Implementable concepts for urea production in developing countries.

As a technology provider, Stamicarbon would like to work with fertilizer producers and others involved in the fertilizer value chain and food value chains to pursue sustainable food security and fertilizer production activities in a truly "triple -P" spirit. Fluid-bed granulation Our fluid-bed granulation process produces highly spherical and smooth-surfaced granules which are easier to coat and release nutrients more efficiently. Stamicarbon is engaged in R&D on coatings with several parties. Other areas of focus include zero ammonia and dust emissions, as well as minimizing carbon leakage from natural resources to the environment.
