Stamicarbon, the DSM Licensing Center, has been established as the licensing subsidiary of DSM in 1947. Well-experienced in technology licensing and the support of process operations and plant maintenance for almost 60 years, Stamicarbon has been able to gain a solid reputation for certainty and reliability.

Our long list of references includes some 1,000 licenses to about 400 customers in more than 80 countries. They form the keystones of our claim of providing more value from intellectual property.

Urea Technology

Stamicarbon is the world market leader in licensing Urea technology for grass root plants, revamps and services – delivering the optimum environmental performance, safety, reliability and productivity with competitive investment cost. Our latest innovative achievements are:
  • the commercialization of our patented fluid bed granulation technology.
  • the development of the Urea 2000plus™ Mega Plant technology, allowing for capacities of up to 5000 mtpd urea in one single line
  • the development and commercialization of the patented material Safurex for application in the critical parts of the urea process.

LLDPE/HDPE Technology

DSM is producing Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) and High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) using its in-house developed COMPACT Solution technology in combination with a proprietary catalyst system (Ziegler type). Stamicarbon offers this technology for licensing. The COMPACT technology is a very flexible process to produce polymers of high competitive quality (e.g. wide range of melt indices and densities).

Unsaturated Polyester Resin Technology

DSM Composite Resins is a leading producer of Unsaturated Polyesters Resins. Stamicarbon offers technology and product know-how for the commercial production of a broad portfolio of unsaturated polyester resins for various applications and end-markets (e.g. building & construction, automotive and marine). Unsaturated polyester resins are used in the production of fiber reinforced plastics or non-reinforced filled products.

Symphase® Technology

Symphase® Technology is a innovative and patented vacuum coating technology developed by DSM for the creation of transparent oxygen barrier layers based on the vapor deposition of melamine. This technology is viewed as having applications in key markets such as electronics, medical devices and disposables.
Branded as Freshure® coatings, it is available for licensing in flexible packaging - particularly foods.

Secondary Fuel Pellet Technology

The Secondary Fuel Pellet technology is used to recycle waste into (higher value added) fuel pellets. The technology is suitable for waste streams, which contain both cellulose and (high amounts of) plastics (e.g. waste streams of paper/pulp industry). The fuel pellets produced can be easily transported and dosed as secondary energy source for coal fired power plants, cement furnaces etc. The fuel pellets have similar energy content to coal at substantially lower costs.
