Experiences with large scale revamping
This presentation is about a revamp on a large scale in which the capacity of a traditional conventional total recycle plant comprising two identical units is raised by about 60 % by converting these units into a single line CO2 stripping plant.
The revamped urea melt plant is a spider in a web in the Azomures site. Urea solution is used as a feedstock for the existing UAN production facility, to serve the a newly installed granulation plant and urea solution is used as a feedstock for the existing melamine production facility. In addition the urea melt plant is able to process the returned carbamate vapor from the existing melamine facility. Since all operational conditions needed to be accomplished in the design, the revamp project was one of the greatest challenges in the Stamicarbon revamping history.
About Chuanbo Goa
Mr. Chuanbo Gao studied chemical engineering in China and started his career at CNOOC (China National Offshore Oil Corporation) as a Process Engineer in 2006. In 2010, he joined a Professional Doctorate in Engineering program from Eindhoven University of Technology.
Mr. Chuanbo Gao started his journey at Stamicarbon as a Process Engineer in urea plant in 2013 and was engaged in all type of activities since then, including process design, equipment replacement, plant assessments and commissioning support. Recently he became more and more involved in Process Engineering for the grassroot plant design as a lead process engineer.
