The Challenge

Our Business Line Launch/Evolve enables Urea & ANNA producers to build new plants and revamp existing plants by developing and designing reliable and profitable new urea plants and offering a range of safe, cost-effective and environmentally friendly revamp schemes, including proprietary equipment.

To further strengthen the department we are recruiting for a Modelling Engineer.

In this role you design, develop and manage new and to update existing thermodynamic and equipment models and make these available in 3rd party and in-house developed software tools for flow-sheeting and design.

Your key areas of responsibility are to:

• Be the intermediate between process engineers and technical software engineer in gathering requirements, proposing and discussing directions for solutions, preparing detailed specifications and test plans for thermodynamic and equipment models to be implemented (created or maintained) in in-house developed software tools for process design. You are the bridge between practice (experimental results) and theory (mathematical models);
• Manage and improve thermodynamic and equipment models; • Assist process engineers in developing and debugging complete flowsheet models for process design, model tuning and process (design) optimization purposes;
• Propose, plan and coordinate collaborations with external or internal stakeholders towards the generation of knowledge to support the aforementioned activities (e.g. proposing experimental campaigns and/or data generation activities).

The Candidate

You combine a Bachelor or Master degree level in Chemical Engineering with at least 5 years of experience working in thermodynamics and process modeling in a plant engineering or operating company. You have affinity with programming, programming languages and knowledge of unit operations as applied in the process industry.

As a potential new colleague you are able to abstract problems. Next to that you have good analytical skills and you work in an organized manner. Your documentation and communication skills are highly developed and your excellent command of English (verbally as well as written) are necessary to the success of this position.
