Stamicarbon will explore the feasibility of a 450 MTPD green ammonia plant for a major fertilizer producer in the Middle East

The pre-feasibility study is the initial phase to define the process configuration of a 450 MTPD green ammonia plant for a major fertilizer producer in the Middle East. The study will focus on the process units within battery limits, including Stami Green Ammonia as the core technology, along with existing proven technologies for electrolyzers and nitrogen generation.

“We are glad to have secured this prestigious feasibility assignment for a green ammonia plant with one of our valued customers,” said Deepak Shetty, Business Development Manager at Stamicarbon. “Stami Green Ammonia is at the heart of Stamicarbon’s innovation program and we are excited to see our technology selected for this study. We look forward to this project growing into the next stages in the coming months. This definitely represents a significant leap forward for the production of green fertilizers based on renewable resources.”

Green ammonia

Stami Green ammonia enables the production of ammonia from renewable energy resources – instead of fossil fuels – and nitrogen from the air, improving the sustainability of fertilizer production. A green ammonia plant within a small- to medium-capacity range has the specific advantage of leveraging the local availability of low-cost hydrogen and renewable energy. In addition, it could help reduce logistics costs by shortening the value chain with decentralized ammonia production close to the local market.
