Stamicarbon celebrates the first delivery of a Safurex^® Infinity diaphragm seal to a customer in North America. The delivery consists of the first diaphragm seal built with the newly developed state-of-the-art Safurex^® foil (thickness of 100µm) used for diaphragm seal systems for level and pressure transmitters. The Safurex^® foil diaphragms are designed as a technologically advanced solution compared to commonly available materials (such as 316L (UG) or 25-22-2) while addressing the high price and weldability of tantalum or zirconium seals.

After the installation of the first reference, other customers have already adopted the new diaphragm seal, with upcoming installations in various urea plants across the globe. The new product will be produced by Badotherm in the Netherlands by specially qualified welders capable of welding the new Safurex^® foil grade, certified by Lloyds and Stamicarbon.

The development is a strong example of how open innovation and partnership between Badotherm (specialized in design and manufacturing of diaphragms seals), Alleima (delivery of precision strip steel and Safurex^® foil) and Stamicarbon (process design, corrosion knowledge and specialized Safurex^® foil welding) can lead to developing cutting-edge material solutions.
