Stamicarbon’s VISION 2030 on sustainable mineral fertilizers production and application
The application of mineral fertilizers decisively contributes to the world population being able to feed itself. However, in recent years awareness is growing that the production, as well as the application, of mineral fertilizers faces several challenges related to the sustainability of these fertilizers. This presentation will address the main challenges and discuss how a fertilizer technology licensor like Stamicarbon already did - and might further - contribute to mastering these.
About Harold Borkink
Mr. Harold Borkink received a MSc. and a PDEng. in chemical engineering in 1987, respectively 1989 and a PhD. in chemical reactor design in 1991 from the Twente University of Technology in the Netherlands.
He started his career in 1991 as a Process Development Engineer with Akzo Engineering in the Netherlands. Between 1992 and 1995 he worked on several chemical production processes as a Process Engineer. In 1995 he switched to the joint venture Akzo-PQ Silica, where he held the positions of Process Development Manager and Technology and Engineering Manager for the White Fillers silica business. In 2001 he joined W.R. Grace in the position of Technical Manager for the production site in Düren Germany and in 2007 he joined the DSM Manufacturing Centre (now Sitech) as Teamleader for the projects department.
In 2011 he joined Stamicarbon as Manager Process Engineering within the Technology Urea department. Since 2019 he holds the position of Research, Innovation and Development Manager. In this position, he acts as the portfolio manager for all strategic R&D initiatives from Stamicarbon.
