The Challenge

The Inspections & Materials Engineering department is organized within the Business Line Advance. This department is working in a project or plant environment being responsible for applying the mechanical knowledge and experience in all relevant steps of the Urea Licensing process and after Sales Services. In order to catch up with the expanding business and further strengthen the department we are recruiting for a:

Mechanical Inspection Engineer

In this role you are the key team player to ensure reliable high pressure (HP) equipment in urea manufacturing plants by executing and monitoring physical inspections during the construction, modification or repairing phase of critical High Pressure equipment. Providing advice on repair, modifications and residual life time of critical HP Urea equipment is part of this exciting position.

When you, as our new inspiring colleague, recognize yourself in the following key responsibilities then please apply:

• Execute Quality Control by inspections up to and including the final inspection during the manufacturing phase of critical high pressure equipment;
• Execute corrosion inspections and NDE measurements of equipment during turnarounds of Urea plants. Monitors and evaluate ND investigations as carried out by external parties and/or equipment suppliers;
• Support and manage modifications to mechanical equipment, such as relining of reactors, either at the suppliers premises or in the plant;
• Review manufacturing methods and of associated design documentation as made by Engineering Contractors and equipment suppliers;
• Chair the Pre Inspection Meeting of Equipment Supply projects at Manufacturers premises;
• Achieve an agreement about the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) during the Pre Inspection Meeting with all parties involved;
• Provide feedback within mechanical engineering department with regard to equipment design and manufacturing techniques;
• Check that the correct applicable, national and international, legislation is applied in relation to health, safety, environment and quality;
• Support project management as new high pressure equipment is applicable: organization, coordination of all parties involved, Quality Assurance , Inspection and Test Plan, reporting;
• Work on parallel different phased projects;
• Check that all inspection related activities are carried out in accordance with contractual obligations, and if needed escalates to project management;
• Check the execution of the activities as defined in the pre inspection meeting and accordance with the schedule as agreed upon with the parties involved;
• Act as co-leader for the inspection engineers, managing a small group on a day to day operational basis but also during shut downs of urea plants;
• Act as team lead when working on big so-called “Life Time Assesment Studies” at plants worldwide;
• Participate in Innovation projects;
• Report and present inspection results of a Plant Inspection to the client (findings and advice on inspection intervals ,repair methods and residual life time of equipment);
• Report and present inspection results of a Plant Inspection during the De-Briefing meeting at the home office (findings and advice on inspection intervals ,repair methods and residual life time of equipment);
• Propose new Business leads to the relevant Sales department substracted from findings of the Plant Inspection and outcome of discussion with client;
• Follow up on development- and trainingplan Inspector and support colleague inspectors in their development.

The Candidate

You combine at least a Bachelor/Degree in Mechanical Engineering with relevant years of experience in the field of equipment inspections (QA/QC) and or corrosion inspections of process equipment in (petro)- chemical industry.

As potential new colleague you have to have in-depth knowledge of Mechanical engineering and fabrication knowledge specific with respect to high pressure equipment , construction material, welding, corrosion, NDE techniques. Urea-related process knowledge and understanding of corrosion aspects, predominantly related to HP equipment, assessment-related requirements laid down in international standards and codes.

You need to be in possession of European passport in order to ensure being able to travel for the job to a variety of countries worldwide.

You recognize yourself in the characteristics: accurate, flexible with strong focus on service, able to work with deadlines with strong focus on results and team spirit. You have good reporting skills, you are convincing, persuasive and can communicate with clients on all levels. You are fluent in English both spoken and written and enjoy frequently travelling abroad.
